We bought a litter mate to the 2 younger dogs that are for sale out of their 2 house dogs. We couldn’t be happier with how things have been going. I researched the malinois for 2 years before finally pulling the trigger and buying one. I had it narrowed down to 3 different kennels across the country that I was going to buy from; and, after talking to all 3 and doing research, I decided I would buy a pup from Kevin. He does an excellent job imprinting and socializing his puppies. You can tell he really loves the dogs and, as a former redbone coonhound breeder, that meant a lot to me. He doesn’t just breed to make money. He believes in the breed and the crosses he makes and it really shows.
I am writing this on 06/03/2015: Last night my wife took our 20-month-old daughter and Sasha for a walk. While on the walk, a large about 80lb black lab jumped through the screen in a window of his owner’s house and charged my wife and daughter and Sasha. Sasha without hesitation jumped over my daughter and put herself between my family and the lab and she let that lab know not to come a step closer. Sasha has barked at home and growled a little while playing with our other dogs and cat, but never like this. My wife said she sounded like a full-grown dog and was barking and growling and snarling and showing teeth to let that lab know not to come another step closer. I was so proud of her.
We bought Sasha to be a pet but also a home protection dog, but she has yet to receive any training. That was all natural instinct. We consider her our daughter’s dog and Sasha is great with her. Sasha can be running around playing but, if she gets near my daughter, she stops and lays down to be petted, and my daughter loves her right back just as much. For the rest of the walk, any time Sasha saw another dog or human, she got right between my family and the other person or dog and just let them know to stay away. She never has charged anyone or even nipped us while playing.
When Kevin says these pups are trained to not bite for playing, he means it; but their natural protection drive and instinct is seriously amazing. I will never own another breed of dog from here on out. I just hope Kevin keeps breeding so I have a quality kennel to buy from.
I run a salvage yard and have brought Sasha to work with me several times and she does great around strangers. She picked up house training, heel, sit, and stay very quickly. It took a little longer, about a week, to train her to where if I say protect, she will walk a circle around me and whoever is standing with me. Sasha is an excellent dog; we could not be happier with how things have turned out.
If you are reading the testimonials because you are trying to actually make a decision, I know I did, then just buy from Kevin. I will buy from him for as long as he is breeding. Sasha is an excellent dog and worth every dime.
